Experience has shown that in most farms of the Republic of Belarus up to 40% of dairy cattle has problems with hoof diseases, which strongly decreases the animals’ productivity.
The essence of ensuring health of dairy cattle’s hoofs is timely preventive hoof trimming, done by COMPETENT SPECIALISTS. Therefore, with the purpose of training veterinarians, on May 31 through June 3 2010, "Biocom" conducted an academic-and-preventive course on the topic: "Prevention and therapy of cattle hoof diseases" at the "Mozheykovo" farm of the Lida area.
The training was conducted by Paul Groothius – practicing veterinarian of the Dutch "GDS Hoofcare", who specializes in the treatment, cleaning and diagnostics of cattle hoof diseases. The participants of the event included specialists of the following organizations: Agricultural industrial cooperative “Oziory, Grodno Area”, the "Belshina-Agro" subsuduary of the Public Corporation "Belshina", Public Corporation "Komarovka", Public Corporation ”Druzhba” Poultry factory", Agricultural industrial cooperative "Golshansky", Agricultural cooperative "Logoysky", Republican Unitary Enterprise "Belorusneft Minskoblnefteprodukt".
Within the course, veterinarians mastered both the theoretical and practical skills of prevention, diagnostics and treatment of hoof diseases, and learned to properly trim and clean cattle hoofs.
